About the episode
Ever since the NCAA began permitting Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) opportunities, institutions and boosters have been using that to their advantage. By forming NIL Collectives or Trusts independent of universities, boosters are working to create NIL deals with student athletes and connect them with other businesses in their area. Baylor was the final Power 5 institution for which an NIL Collective - or in this case, an NIL Collective-type organization - was formed. This NIL program is called the Green and Gold Exchange (GXG) and is specifically designed to help connect Baylor student-athletes on any team with a variety of resources in the Waco, Texas community. GXG is an arm of Startup Waco, a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to elevate the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Waco and McLennan County and be a leading source of innovation and economic growth. Jacob Kehoe, the Assistant Director for Startup Waco, joins the show to talk about why GXG was created and the opportunities it will provide for Baylor student-athletes.
