Kareem emailed Otherworld months ago saying that he was sexually assaulted by a Djinn (a mysterious entity known in Islamic culture, known in western narratives as the Genie). Initially I thought this email was a joke... but by pure chance I met Kareem in person and realized that the story was very serious. After becoming enthralled by the idea of the Djinn, Kareem welcomed the presence of the trickster spirit into his life. This opened the floodgates to supernatural experiences, including seeing fireless smoke appear in his home, an unexplained phenomenon in Egypt, and eventually accumulating into a physical attack.
