About the episode

Renee Manfredi never considered herself athletic growing up. Now, she's a multi-sport athlete and a gold medal winner. JR Jackson speaks with Renee about the journey that brought her to the pinnacle of sports, earning the honors of Female Athlete of the Year in 2018. The conversation spans from being a child in a military family to the lessons she's learned from Star Wars to singing the National Anthem at Fenway Park. And in addition to being an athlete, Renee serves as a Global Messenger for Special Olympics. In that new role she further brings the spirit of family, or Ohana as they say in Hawaii, to the expanding community.
